Parks & Recreation Commission
The Parks & Recreation Commission is made up of volunteers appointed by the Board of Selectmen to oversee the operation of the Parks & Recreation Department including supervision of the Director and other staff members, financial oversight of the Revolving Fund and overall planning and implementation of programming.

Those interested in becoming a Commissioner are encouraged to attend an upcoming Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting to learn more about the Commission, have questions answered and be advised regarding the application policy.
The Parks & Recreation Commission meets throughout the year. Meetings are public and will be posted ahead of the meeting date. The public is welcome to attend!
Parks & Recreation Commission History:
Town Meeting 1979 Article 6 - The New Durham Parks and Recreation Commission is appointed by the Selectmen whose function shall be to oversee the successful operation and development of recreational activities within the town. RSA 31:44-31:50a.
BOS Meeting Sept 27, 1995 voted to expanded the commission from 5 to 7 members.
Town Meeting 2001 Article 17 - Established a recreational revolving fund in accordance to RSA 35b:2 and named the Parks and Recreation Commission as agents. The town treasurer shall have custody of all monies in the fund and shall pay out only upon order of the Parks & Recreation Commission.
BOS Meeting in 2017 voted to reduce the commission from 7 to 5 members.
